BeHoptimystics Ethics

Is our stock ethically sourced?

Honestly, to the very best of our ability and knowledge, I would say yes.  But…… the mining industry is renowned for secrecy and poor regulation. It is in reality difficult to backtrack a crystal’s journey with complete confidence in all cases, especially with items from mines which have now been closed.

There are always issues around ethics surrounding our movement and consumption of natural resources alongside how they are mined, especially as the rise and popularity of crystals has grown massively in the 30+ years I have been collecting.  The increase in popularity of crystals has intensified mining so it has lots of implications.

I personally endeavour to know as much as possible things are sourced ethically and aswell as this BeHoptimystic puts into 4 charities where it is proven and evident things are not done well and where other material consumptions other than crystal and minerals cause issues to wildlife and natural resources.

The shop has a massive range of minerals, fossils and crystals.  Many mineral specimens are from collections acquired by individuals, some from a long time ago others more recent - these are the easiest to trace.  I have a range of suppliers, who themselves are conscientious enthusiasts.  I do however,  have little control of the expansion and popularity of this sector when, in all reality, and in all business, this is when the bandwagon is jumped on and ransacked.

If you are a crystal Collector and concerned and let’s face it, not too sure if your “ethically sourced” crystals are, as anyone can say that (suppliers too) there are several charities you can support to help people and the environment in scarce conditions.
